About Symposium

We invite you to Bielsko-Biała – the Polish Capital of Culture 2026, designated by decision of the Minister of Culture and National Heritage. Included in the Capital of Culture’s official programme of events, the European Harp Symposium, under the main theme “Improvisation in music and in life,” focuses on the education and development of harp improvisation skills.
The three-day symposium will be an international event for young people learning to play the harp and young harpists entering the world of concerts, as well as world-renowned artists specialising in various forms of improvised music. We invite you to lectures, concerts, and public masterclasses led by leading global authorities in harp improvisation:
Park Stickney,
Alexander Boldachev,
and Benen Creighton Griffiths.

We encourage young harpists to perform with their own harps across the Beskid Agglomeration in dozens of concerts taking place simultaneously. The green surroundings of the Silesian Beskid mountains will be the perfect backdrop for us to meet, and will ensure that we leave the Polish Capital of Culture – Bielsko-Biała 2026 in possession of the ‘keys to happiness’.

“…… Improvisation, the ability to adapt and immediately react,
is the key to happiness.”
